The CRT Dilemma
August 27, 20092 Comments
Not many people realise the impact the obsolete CRT they are about to discard has on the ecological landscape, for a start there is a very high lead content to consider, this alone causes damage when it is placed into landfil either here in the UK or even worse in other countries less fortunate than us where it is un-ethically handled, with little or no thought for the future. There is mass swathes of this happening and very few companies may be aware it is even being done, they are also unaware of the financial penalties which can be levied onto them if it is proven the said equipment came from them. Here at PC Disposals we pride ourselves on ensuring 0% of our CRT intake finds itself in landfil sites anywhere, if a CRT is deemed inoperable it is broken for spares and as much as physically possible it is broken to the smallest denomination as possible to minimise its carbon footprint, the more you retrieve from any equipment to further the lifespan of another you are not only minimising the carbon trail for the donor equipment but also the recipient equipment too..
The Recycling Challenge
August 26, 2009 2 Comments
In todays technological workspace it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep apace with the ever changing face of technology, this alone drives industry to strive to have the latest and greatest equipment to better enhance their productivity and be always on the leading edge of their chosen arena, this sadly means alot of redundant equipment finding itself shelved in some dark recess of the company, usually piled high around the IT department. This equipment by no means is defunct or even obsolete, quite the opposite it has plenty of life left and can quite easily be a source of advancement for a whole sub-culture of society who have difficulty sourcing the right equipment to meet their own needs through financial difficulty. Here at PC Disposal we strive to match those in need with those who have the equipment they no longer require. All equipment is audited and a clear path can be traversed to follow where the equipment ended up. This can be done anonymously or by indirect donation.
